August marks the beginning of my favorite part of the year. I love fall and the holidays, and in my opinion August is when it all starts. The mornings and nights are chilly, but the days are hot. Everything is calm and exciting in August. I’m relaxed from the summer and at the point where I’m ready to go back to school. Yesterday, I was feeding our horse, and our yellow lab came out with me. The Vermont air was fresh and crisp, and in that moment everything felt good.
Last night, my sister Kelly and I made a vegetarian dinner for the family. It was so exciting for me because we never have completely vegetarian meals, and it was nice to be able to eat any of the dishes on the table. We made some caprese appetizers, and they were amazing! Then, we cooked spaghetti squash, mini potatoes, broccoli, and I made a tossed salad.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the beginning of the school year. It’s kind of like a mid year New Years. A fresh start, a change of season, a new routine. I feel like it’s a good time for goals and inspiration. I predict I’m going to follow through with things in the near future, so I’m going into the next few months with a positive attitude and excitement. When I was younger something I used to do at the beginning of every school year and fall was read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. And now, whenever the weather gets a bit chilly, I get an urge to read it again. It was just a little memory that I look back on with happiness and I want to remember it.
Those are my August thoughts at the moment, thanks for reading!
P.S. Today is my dad’s 46th birthday!
